Explore one of the most beautiful cities in the north of Switzerland with an exclusive English-speaking guide just for you on this private tour of Basel.
At the time of your choice, we'll meet at your hotel or the meeting point of your choice ready to start our private tour of Basel. After a brief introduction to this beautiful Swiss city located on the banks of the Rhine, we'll head towards the historic city centre.
One of the main monuments of the old town is the Basel City Hall, whose red brick façade stands out among the other buildings on the Markplatz. You'll notice its impressive clock and the other details of the main entrance, which is decorated with gold paintings contrasting its crimson background.
We'll then continue our tour of the historic centre of Basel to Münsterplatz, where we'll stop in front of Basel Cathedral. The cathedral, whose late Romanesque style architecture was badly damaged during the earthquake that struck the city in 1356, now features typically Gothic architecture.
While we admire the cathedral, we'll learn about the history of the illustrious figures who are buried in it, such as the famous humanist Erasmus of Rotterdam. From the back of the church, you can also enjoy beautiful views of the river Rhine as it flows through Basel.
If you wish, you can also visit one of the city's art centres. One of the most outstanding is undoubtedly the Tinguely Museum, dedicated to the work of one of the most important Swiss painters and sculptors of the 20th century.
After two hours of sightseeing, we'll conclude the tour at the meeting point of your choice in Basel.
We can start this private tour from your hotel in Basel or from a central location in the city, whichever you prefer.
